Copyright 2007 Silverfin Marketing - Preparing for a Flood Emergency
Preparing for a Flood:

Buy or prepare an emergency flood kit or flooding emergency kit and have with it:

  • A first aid kit

  • All essential medications

  • Special items for infants, elderly, or disabled family members.

Preparing for a Potential Flood:

  • Turn off your utilities and disconnect all of your electronic electric appliances.

  • Move your furniture and valuables to higher floors of your home.

  • Fill your car's gas tank, in case an evacuation notice is issued.

During a flood:

  • Do not try to drive over a flooded road. Your car could stall and attempting to move a stalled
vehicle in flood conditions can be fatal. If you get caught on a flooded road and water levels are
rising quickly, climb out of the car and get to higher ground.

Prepare a Family Disaster Plan:

  • Check to see if your insurance covers flood damage. If it does not, ask your insurance how to
    get flood insurance.

  • Keep all of your insurance policies, documents, and other valuables in a safe deposit box.
